BCO holds principal auditions periodically for managed singers. Please ask your manager to send materials to email@example.com with the subject line: "Audition inquiry."
Chorus and comprimario auditions for local singers are held periodically and announced on this website and on our Facebook page.
We keep all materials on file, and will contact singers in advance of scheduling auditions if we are able to hear them.
About working with BCO:
BCO presents operas in concert with piano accompaniment in the beautiful Grand Ballroom of the Engineers Club in Mount Vernon, Baltimore. Our jewel-box theater inside the gilded Garrett-Jacobs Mansion seats 222 guests, and we regularly sell out our performances to enthusiastic, vibrant audiences.
All operas will be performed memorized, some with minimal blocking. Though we are a concert opera company, our performances are very interactive and filled with dramatic intention. Our audiences are tremendously appreciative and enjoy seeing the singers up close.
The complete time commitment for a BCO concert opera usually comprises the 8-12 days directly preceding performances for principal artists (including comprimari), including coachings, music rehearsals and libretto reads with our pianist and conductor, a dress rehearsal, and two performances.
All performers are paid. BCO is a non-AGMA company.
