Baltimore Concert Opera currently operates with 90% of our revenue coming from ticket sales. To date, we have relied upon only 10% from private donations. That 10%, however, is incredibly important...essential in fact. This 10% is only going to increase over the years as our expenses continue to grow. At present, we have no paid staff. This will have to change in the coming years. We, the board members of BCO, have each dedicated ourselves to donate one year of our lives in order to ensure the future of this organization. In that time, we've taken extraordinary steps toward financial stability. Here are a few of the things that we have accomplished:
Capital Purchases:
Supertitle projector/Screen/Scaffolding
- Our yearly budget benefits tremendously from not having to rent this equipment.
Supertitle Collection
- BCO has procured a supertitle library of 45 standard repertoire supertitle sets.
- If we had continued to rent our supertitles, the cost would have ranged from $500 to $750 per show. This is an enormous savings!
- We have now wiped out 2-3k in yearly expenses, as well as produced a sizable rental income.
We realize that we cannot continue to ask the same people for the same support, in order to accomplish the same things, year after year. Please know that if you choose to support us financially, we look for every way to stretch those dollars. It is our hope that starting next season, we are able to take a portion of each donation, no matter how small, and put it aside toward an endowment.
Volunteers
There are many ways that you can volunteer....
- Ushering at performances
- Selling tickets
- Stuffing envelopes
- Picking up/returning lighting rentals
- Picking up artists from airport
- Offering a home-stay for an artist
- Do you have a private room in your home where an out of town artist could comfortably stay for a few days? This is a great way to be involved, and get to know a fantastic singer!
- Helping to prepare grant applications
