Amanda Palmeiro, soprano

Soprano and Memphis native, Amanda Palmeiro is an emerging performer in Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. Her upcoming performances include First Lady in The Magic Flute with Shreveport Opera, and the soprano soloist in Mendelssohn's Elijah with the Mercersburg Community Chorus.

Miss Palmeiro was the winner of the 2017 and 2015 District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. This summer, she performed the role of Anna Maurrant in Street Scene, and covered the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Janiec Opera Company

Following her vocal transition from Mezzo-Soprano to Soprano, Miss Palmeiro began performing again in the D.C. Metropolitan area with her first scheduled engagement as a chorister for Madama Butterfly with Washington National Opera

Miss Palmeiro spent the summer of 2015 with the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Festival where she had the pleasure of portraying Dorabella in Così fan tutte and Friend # 3 in The Ballad of Baby Doe. In March of 2015 Miss Palmeiro performed the role of Alte Frau in Guntram with the Washington Concert Opera, following a win in January at the Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions in Knoxville, TN

In the summer of 2014, Miss Palmeiro performed in Italy as a Concert Artist with Oberlin in Italy. In the Summer of 2013, Amanda was a participant in the Young Artist Program at the Harrower Summer Opera Workshop, where she performed the role of Nicklausse in Les Contes d'Hoffmann.

As amember of the Maryland Opera Studio from 2012-2014, Miss Palmeiro had the opportunity to perform the roles of Prince Orlovsky and Ida in Die Fledermaus, Nancy Waters and Florence Pike in Albert Herring, and cover Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflote. In February of 2013, she performed the role of Lady Montague in Lee Hoiby's opera Romeo and Juliet, as part of the studio's New Work Reading Series.  

In 2014, Miss Palmeiro completed her Master of Music in Opera Performance at the University of Maryland, College Park, with a graduate assistantship from the Maryland Opera Studio.  She studies voice with Elizabeth Bishop.
