About working with BCO:

BCO presents operas in concert with piano accompaniment in the beautiful Grand Ballroom of the Engineers Club in Mount Vernon, Baltimore. We ask our principal artists to perform memorized.  Choristers perform on book. The complete time commitment for a BCO concert opera is usually the 7-10 days directly preceding performances for principal artists (including comprimari), including musical rehearsals with our pianist and conductor, a dress rehearsal, and two performances. Choristers typically have 2-3 music rehearsals the week prior to performances, plus the dress rehearsal and two performances. Each production is contracted separately.

About the auditions:

You may be asked for a short sight-reading test. Please prepare 2 contrasting opera arias (one in Italian) for chorus auditions. Please bring 4-6 arias if you intend on auditioning for comprimario roles.

Paid performance opportunity. Non-AGMA company.

Please fill out the audition application form completely.  We will notify singers of whether we are able to hear them and available audition times.  There is no audition fee, but if you would like to use our highly qualified accompanist there will be a $25.00 fee.

Please no calls; for questions, email

*Please note: BCO will be in attendance at the Potomac Vocal Institute auditions on June 2nd and 3rd, those participating in PVI auditions needn’t apply for a BCO audition on 5/21 in Baltimore.
